How to Get There
However you're coming be sure to read the information here.
And bear in mind the following.
Coming by Car
You can't rely on satnav. The what3words works well (download via What3Words Apps ). The 3-word coordinates are ///moth.moods.mavericks.
Lockerbrook is just over a mile and 1200ft up a farm track from the main road (A57, Snake Pass). The track has steep sections, sharp corners, a rough surface, and a few farm gates, but cars can get up there with very little difficulty.
By Train
The nearest train station is at Bamford, approximately 9.5 kilometres away. Trains arrive at Bamford from Manchester and Sheffield.
By Bus
Buses from Sheffield drop off by the Ladybower Inn on the A57, 8.5 kilometres away.
Lifts from Rail Station and Bus Drop
We can provide lifts but you need to arrange these in advance with the organiser.
Mobile Phone Reception
The last reliable 4G is at Bamford or Glossop.
What to Bring
Dark, loose-fitting clothes for zazen and clothes for samu (work in the kitchen, cleaning, or gardening); a towel and toiletries; indoor shoes or slippers; a zafu and zafuton (meditation cushion and mat) if you have them (spares available but you need to order on the registration form); a mug, spoon, fork or chopsticks; three nesting bowls (the largest approx 13cm in diameter - any bowls will do), and a cloth (e.g. tea towel) to wrap the bowls.
Cost
There are no sesshin fees. Instead, you can make a donation to help finance this opportunity for practice. We suggest the following:
1. £170, which will cover the cost of attendance of one person and help support someone else who otherwise couldn’t attend.
2. £135, which will cover the cost of attendance of one person
3. £30, being the registration fee, plus whatever else you can afford—which may be nothing.
Above all, don’t let finances stop you attending. Pay what you can afford.
Registration
Places are limited and registering early is a huge help to the organisers. So please register as soon as possible by completing the form below.
When you register, you will be invited to pay the registration fee of £30. You can, at the same time, pay the rest of your donation, or you can pay that later, either in a lump sum or in instalments. But please pay your full donation before 10th April.
